Paraben, Sulfate, Phthalate-Free

What are these?

Parabens used to refer to a group of chemicals, mostly synthetic, that are commonly found in health, beauty and personal care products.

Sulfates are detergents or surfactants, that act to remove dirt, sebum, and other product residues which although not carcinogenic, can cause skin and eye irritation. Since this can clog pores, it may lead to skin breakouts and acne. Sulftaes are also usually the cause of lots of foam and bubbles in a product.

Phthalates are a group of chemicals used to soften PVC plastic hence usually found in plastic toys and the like. They also act as solvents in cosmetics and other product. Studies have shown that high and constant exposure to it can damage the liver, kidneys, lungs, and reproductive system.

What does it mean for Raw ByRoque to be FREE of these chemicals?

Since our re-opening in 2020, Raw ByRoque products have been consciously developed to be paraben, phthalate and sulfate-free.

This means we do not use synthetic preservatives in our products which give them a shorter shelf life than most cosmetic products you’d see elsewhere. Hence, why we thrive on producing our goodies in small batches. Instead of them lasting 3 or more years, on average our products have a maximum shelf-life of two years.

Our ingredients are carefully chosen to ensure the availability of self-preserving properties. Some examples of these are Vitamin E, Babassu Oil and Apple Cider Vinegar.

We are constantly reviewing our recipes and doing research on best ingredients and ethical sourcing to give you the best for your skin at the most fair prices possible.

At minimum, 95% of our product content are derived naturally, with majority of our products being 100% natural. We are proud to say that the fragrance oils we use are also phthalate & paraben-free.
